We started our day off right at Mosaic for another installment of Creative Mornings. We normally host CM in LA, so the trip down to the Arts District required an early wake up. Luckily, Handsome Coffee was on hand to sponsor the event and keep us keen to hear keynote speaker Sonja Rasula talk about the inspiration behind Unique LA. In tow was yours truly (Lawrence Dy), Adam Ahdoot, and company namesake Willard Ford.
- Loads of people doing something cool before you even woke up this morning.
Just through the door we bumped into Ted from Poketo, as well as his lovely wife Angie. If you haven’t done so yet, go to www.poketo.com to see some of the latest and greatest design products, including work by Tanya Aguiniga, one of the great designers represented by FORD&CHING.
If you are Rip Van Winkle, Creative Mornings is an early morning lecture series featuring inspirational presentations by creative professionals culled from a variety of industries and fields. The day’s speaker, Sonja Rasula, described teh birth of Unique LA and her journey from journalist to retail pioneer. Launched in 2008, Unique LA is a two day retail event that occurs seasonally and brings local-made design and art to the masses. She was especially animated when discussing the diversity of people who come to her events, from “wonderful old ladies” to “hot dads.” Unique LA is now spreading its innovative retail format to multiple cities worldwide under the moniker, “State of Unique.”
Creative Mornings is hands-down the best thing going in early morning LA. You get free coffee, donuts, and an opportunity to network with LA’s design talent. Look out for the next Creative Mornings at FORD&CHING in April.
